My perfect day solo at the spa

I wasn’t expecting to have a spa day this weekend but after my vacation got unexpectedly cancelled, I had some free time on my hands.
My favourite day spa in Ontario is Ste. Anne’s Spa in Grafton, Ontario. It’s about an hour and a half drive from Toronto, so I left early on a Saturday to make it there for about 9:30am. Before you arrive for your day, you’ll have to book all your treatments by phone ahead of time so make sure you take a look at the website and pick which spa treatments you’d like before calling!

I chose a facial and a massage for my spa treatments and a meditation class in the afternoon. I like to book 2-3 treatments and a wellness class but I wouldn’t book too much more than this for a day visit or you won’t have much to time to relax between sessions.

When I entered the spa reception for my visit, I was a bit nervous as I’d never visited by myself. I worried I may be lonely or feel out of place but I was put at ease by the lovely staff right away and welcomed with the signature robe to wear for the day. I didn’t bring my own slippers so I borrowed a pair of theirs but if you have a favourite pair from home, you are encouraged to bring them.

I rested in the quiet room in the massage chairs for awhile and then made my way to the lounge to relax on the lovely sofas with a magazine! I can’t remember the last time I just sat and read a magazine. The spa has complimentary granola, coffee and tea so you can snack as you read.

Next I went for lunch and was really impressed with the selection of treats. I settled on a Cauliflower soup and a yummy red pepper sauce pasta. And, since I was treating myself, I ended off the meal with a butter tart and the most amazing coconut ice cream

After my facial and massage, I opted for a meditation class to end my day. These classes are $10 extra and I recommend booking them when you book your day spa. I had wanted to do yoga as well but it was fully booked.
The meditation class takes place in a beautiful studio beside the main building and was a lovely way to relax and learn about mindfulness. I would have liked it to be a bit longer but I liked it nonetheless.

To end the day off, I had afternoon tea. The day package includes both lunch and afternoon tea and I recommend you book them at least three hours apart or you may still be full from lunch. The afternoon tea was lovely, with the highlight being the scone. Can I have ten more please?

The weather was pretty rainy so I couldn’t go for a walk around the grounds but on a nice day, you should go for a wander and check out the horse stables they have on site. I opted to check out the lovely gift shop where they sell their skincare line amongst other things.

I was sad to leave and wished I’d booked an overnight stay to really get the most out of my visits. Next time for sure!
